Nobody wants another app.

Commons is how we help churches, clubs and community businesses engage their people at every step, without asking anyone to download anything. Software in a service, not software as a service.

The problem with the app.

Every community eventually gets told to build an app. A church, a running club, a gym, a members' association. The app gets built, a third of the people install it, a tenth still open it after a month, and the community drifts back to WhatsApp groups and a noticeboard by the door.

The friction is the point of failure. An app asks people to take a step towards the community before the community has given them a reason to. It puts the whole relationship behind a download, a login and a notification setting most people switch off in week 1.

Communities do not grow through a single front door. They grow one small step at a time, and each step happens somewhere different.

The escalation ladder.

Every community has a ladder. People climb it in small, specific moves, and at each rung the question is the same: what would make the next step obvious and easy, in the channel this person already uses?
  • 1

    Hears about you.

    A friend's message, a post, a flyer.

One tap to see when and where. No account, no download.

  • 2

    Shows up once.

The door, the welcome, and the evening after.

A warm, specific follow up within 24 hours, from a person, not a system.

  • 3

    Comes back.

The second visit, the third, a first name remembered.

An invitation to something smaller than the main event.

  • 4

    Belongs to something small.

    A group, a team, a table.

The group runs itself, with less admin for the person leading it.

  • 5

    Gives time.

    Rosters, reminders, thanks.

Serving is easy to say yes to, and easy to keep doing.

  • 6

    Brings others up.

The view of who is where.

Leaders see who is stuck at each rung and reach out before people drift.

Most of these moments need no app at all. They need the right message, at the right time, from the right person, with the admin taken off their hands. That is what we build.

Software in a service.

Commons is not a subscription. You are not renting a tool and working out how to fit your community into it.

It is end to end consultancy on how your community engages its people, with software built to fit, where software is what is needed. We start with the people, not the product.

  • 1

    Map.

We sit with your team, walk the ladder rung by rung, and find where people go quiet.

  • 2

    Design.

For each touchpoint we propose what to change, within your budget and with the tools that exist now, AI included. Sometimes the answer is a message and a rota, not software.

  • 3

    Build.

We build the pieces that need building: the 10 second sign up, the follow up that goes out that evening, the automations behind a small group, the view your leaders check on Monday.

  • 4

    Run.

We stay in the loop, measure what moved, and adjust. You keep everything we built.

Who it is for.

  • Churches and faith communities.

  • Community businesses with regulars: gyms, studios, cafes, coworking spaces.

  • Clubs, associations and member organisations.

  • Anyone running events for the same people, again and again.

Where it is
Commons is in pilot with a church in Singapore, with the first touchpoints live, and it is open to new clients now. Every engagement starts with the mapping conversation.
